About Semsettin Gogebakan

Based in Columbia, Maryland, Semsettin Gogebakan has built a distinguished career as a water line locator with the county government. A graduate of Karsiyaka High School in Adana, Turkey, he subsequently completed 18 months of service in the Turkish Armed Forces. After moving to the United States, Semsettin Gogebakan accepted a position with the Howard County Government in 2000; he has since maintained responsibilities in underground water and sewer line detection, with the primary goal of locating and protecting these lines from potentially destructive contracting work.

Throughout his tenure with the Howard County Government, Semsettin Gogebakan has earned numerous industry accolades. In 2015 alone, he received the Locator Achievement Award from the director of Miss Utility and the Bureau of Utilities certificate for successful completion of a job. Mr. Gogebakan is also a four-time recipient of the Department of Public Works Customer Service Team Award.

Outside of his professional pursuits, Mr. Gogebakan stays active by taking 2.5-mile walks throughout the work week and playing tennis every weekend.
